Together, We Can Build a Healthier Tomorrow

What are the problems:

  • Many people lack affordable healthy food

  • Lack knowledge of nutrition

  • Lack the skills to prepare healthy foods

  • Lack the skills to shop for healthy foods

Why It Matters and Realistic Solutions:

Nutrition insecurity leads to the diet-related conditions, such as heart disease and diabetes, hypertension, and obesity. Many diet-related diseases are preventable. With the right type of foods and wellness education and support, people can prevent, treat and even reverse these diseases.

Securing a location for our not-for-profit community café. That serves healthy meals based upon a donation model. The cafe will provide prevention and management wellness education that gives people the skills and tools they need to live a healthy lifestyle. When people feel supported and in control with skills and resources to manage their health they are in empowered and will thrive.

The problem we are experiencing right now is that our wellness program only addresses part of the solution: We can't resolution problems with half of the solution is lacking. It just isn't good enough; we can do better! What we need the most is a centralized location that will address the problems, give solutions that are attainable by using realistic approaches to improve a person's health in the most sensible and cost-effective ways.

As we continue to grow in the upcoming seasons, we are tackling this problem by requesting more significant support from our donors, business partners, and by community leaders and from the community to secure our cafe model.

Harmony Cafe is based on and a proud member of the established nonprofit restaurant business model developed by the One World Everybody Eats Foundation (OWEE)

Harmony Café is unique in the lack of a set menu as well as set prices. A donation system is available for patrons to pay what they feel their meal is worth as well as what they can afford to give.

Our philosophy is that everyone, regardless of economic status, deserves the chance to eat healthy food while being treated with dignity. Food will be paid for at market prices and donations of first-rate, locally grown produce and other foods will be accepted.

Currently, there are more than 50 community cafés operating in the US and abroad. Here are just a few:
