Glenda M. Miranda, registered nurse (RN) since 1993. Graduated as Valedictorian with Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from St. Joseph's College, Patchogue, earned Master’s degree in nursing from University of Phoenix and currently enrolled in Doctoral Program in Executive Leadership through American Sentinel University. I have worked most of my nursing career in Emergency Departments. I lived in NYC and worked at St. Vincent's Hospital, New York Presbyterian Hospital, and St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital. I currently work at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip as the Director of Emergency Services.
I moved back to Long Island six years ago after living in NYC for 13 years. I live in Mastic Beach. My daughter lives in California but my sister and mother live within one half mile of me. In my free time I love reading, going to the beach, traveling, spending time with friends, and knitting. I love being a nurse and having the opportunity to impact someone's life every day. As the Director, I am responsible for about 200 employees and I have received many awards for leadership. Our department is the largest Emergency Department in Suffolk County and I try to keep the staff grounded and compassionate while caring for our patients.
I joined Harmony Cafe because of my belief in the vision of a community-based center. The strategic plan of a center that offers life-style classes like yoga and meditation, lessons in professional and life skills, a safe place to meet, good and healthy food is central to my personal beliefs of humanity. To be a part of such a wonderful organization is an honor for me
